Talking about the Faeries

I was recently invited on to Charles Christian‘s Weird Tales Radio Show to discuss some aspects of the faeries. The links are below, and the interview begins at 05.14. What did we talk about?

  • Morgan le Fay and Arthuriana
  • The origins of the faeries
  • Altered states of consciousness and the faeries
  • Are they supposed to have wings?
  • Elves vs Faeries
  • Faerie or Fairy?
  • Brian Froud, Alan Lee and The Lord of the Rings film (where I forgot the name of the director Peter Jackson!)
  • The Fairy Investigation Society and modern faerie encounters
  • Syd Barrett

Faery Princess by Brian Froud-2
From Brian Froud and Alan Lee’s “Faeries”

Author: neilrushton

I write about my subversive thoughts... a lot of them are about those most ungraspable of metaphysical creatures; faeries. I published my first novel in 2016, "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", and my second novel was published in 2020 - 'Dead but Dreaming', where some very cosmic faeries are awaiting the protagonist at an English psychiatric hospital in 1970...

  1. Neil, I’d like to share a book with you.

It is the core book of Falun Dafa entitled ‘Zhuan Falun’. It talks about spiritual things from a scientific perspective. It talks about other dimensions, the soul, the cosmos in the microcosm and the macrocosm, supernatural abilities, karma, healing, the true history of mankind, transcending the 5 elements and leaving the 3 realms and many many other fascinating things.

It is a spiritual science of the highest order. I’ll give you a copy and you can take a look if you like, totally up to you ofcourse:

    1. This is great – thank you very much. It’s easier for me to read on computer than in print, due to a visual impairment I have, so I will certainly be taking a look at this pdf you’ve kindly attached. Many thanks – it’s appreciated, neil.

  2. Good interview! Thank you Neil for all of this information on faeries. You put forth many theories on what the fae are. Do you believe in them or have you had encounters with faes yourself? Cheers, D

    1. Thank you Ms Cosmic. I always think that ‘belief’ is a tricky thing, and i prefer direct gnostic ‘knowing’. I have indeed interacted with the faeries. Once this happens, it becomes easier to accept their reality, even if it’s a confusing metaphysical reality that is difficult to incorporate into our usual waking reality. But yes, they are certainly real – I just haven’t quite worked out where their world is yet. Do you have any experiences? Thanks for the interest – I appreciate it, n.

      1. Hi Neil. Yes, I have had and continue to have experiences with them. I appreciate your distinction between belief and gnostic knowing. I struggled with accepting these experiences because I didn’t ‘believe’ in such things. But I was lucky to have my eyes and sight opened, despite myself! And to have then found a couple of really good teachers who helped me understand what I was dealing with. I’ve enjoyed your blog.
        Cheers, Diane
